The French Backgammon Federation has several objectives:
- Promote backgammon and welcome new players;
- Encourage and assist in the creation of regional clubs;
- Developing backgammon in schools;
- Administer an official rating for licensed players, based on the accurate and sophisticated Elo system;
- Maintain a website and animate Facebook pages and groups, the main communication links between players;
- Organize competitions, the main ones being the Championship of France, the Hector Saxe Backgammon Tour, the Masters, and online competitions;
- Train beginners with the help of courses and discussions around positions published in the newsletter;
- Collaborate with other federations and international associations with the same goal and present French teams in international competitions.
